Video of the Dawson Kids

Ever since Alicia's mom brought us an old video of The American Tail (with Fievel the mouse), there has been only one song sung in our home--"Somewhere Out There". We decided to video the kids singing it to send as an anniversary message to their great grandparents. Now, all you blog fans get to see it. An added bonus is that you get to see what we've mentioned in emails about Avery's eye crossing just like Chloe's did. So please enjoy...but be cautioned that once this song gets in your head, it won't come out.

Just click on the link below and enjoy:

And if you didn't get enough Dawson3 action from that one, watch Avery steal the show again:

We promise to put on some more videos in the near future, including natural waterslides, Extreme Sit'N'Spin, and Grenada Nascar. You can even subscribe to our YouTube videos so that you'll know when there's a new one (I think that's how it works.)

What We Do For Fun

No theaters? No bowling? No Wal-Mart Supercenter? What do the Dawsons do in their free time?
We are totally preoccupied with trying to gain weight.

Seriously, does this even need a caption?

We run with the goats. Yippee.
We have implemented a work program designed to teach youngins the value of hard work.

We socialize. C'mon...we're the Dawsons. It's what we do best.

Okay, sometimes we have to get a little creative.

We really like to run with our legs tied together. Does it get any better than that?

We practically fall over each other in excitement when it comes to beach time.

We spend many hours killing roaches (and lining them up for pictures), mosquitoes, spiders, mosquitoes, scorpions, mosquitoes, bats (that's right -- BATS!), mosquitoes, flies, mosquitoes, freakin' huge moths, mosquitoes, rats, mosquitoes, crabs, mosquitoes, Monsterous centipedes, and did I mention mosquitoes?

And with all we do, we still had time to put together The D3 Band (vocals-Avery Dawson, keyboard/synthesizer-Chloe Dawson, drums/triangle-Luke "Deuce" Dawson). Their debut album, Why Did Our Parents Do This To Us? hits stores Christmas 2007.

The Weihrauchs Invade Grenada

My sister, Amy, and her husband, Zach, came to visit the first week of August. Oh how refreshing that was! We had so much fun with them, and Amy was a real trooper dealing with morning sickness (she's 3 months along), heat, and mosquitoes. Here are some pictures from their visit.
Hanging out with the kids in Pearls
How cute are they?
Sisters and BFFs!
Date night. No kids. Yippee!
What a great evening that was! This restaurant is right on the beach, so we took a little stroll after dinner. And what did we see coming out of the water onto the sand? A huge sea turtle digging a hole for her eggs. We were able to walk right up to it. It was pretty cool.
Amy took this picture after a long, hot morning playing with the kids in Pearls. Needless to say, the Dawson clan was pooped!

Hanging out at the house with the kiddos.

We took Amy and Zach up into the mountains, hoping to see some monkeys. They rarely come out of the rainforest, but I guess they heard the Weihrauchs were in town, so they decided to make an appearance. We had fun with them. I tossed a peppermint to each monkey and instantly became their best friend.

From Alicia

Shocking, isn't it? A post from Alicia. Grant has no idea that I even know how to do this. (Surprise, honey!) I actually don't have anything important to say. I just wanted to say hi to everyone. I'd thought I'd post some pictures of the kids for those of you who have been asking.
Luke is practicing for when American Idol comes to Grenada.

I can't believe Avery sat still long enough for me to even take this picture.

Here's Chloe sporting her new haircut.

Avery just got a haircut, too, so I'll be posting that pic very soon.

Well, I'm going to have to admit that I like this blogging thing. I'll think I'll do it again in the next few days...

Hurricane Dean

We experienced our first taste of a hurricane/tropical storm down here yesterday and today. At the grocery store, all of the bottled water, crackers, and bread were gone. Every TV and radio had the weather on, and conversation consisted of Hurricane Dean.

Thankfully, it was much ado about nothing...at least for us here in Grenada. There were a few brief spurts of heavy rain and moderate wind, but it was no different than a regular storm. I pray that things go as well for the rest of the Caribbean and the rest of the hurricane season.

Say it ain't so

I never intended to be a blogger. I tried to hold out. But just like cell phones and mp3 players, I'm giving in to the peer pressure. Actually, our website expired after a year of service, and I wanted to try something to be able to post pictures and give some brief stories to go with it. This MAY even shorten my biweekly emails to less than two pages. Notice I said "may".

There is no real reason for this blog, other than to announce that I, along with the rest of the Dawson clan, am a blogger now. The real question is: "Will anyone notice? Does anyone care?" The answers to these questions will invariably affect my self-esteem and ability to carry on in this world. Therefore, I tried to find the best pictures possible to go with this post...if only to con people into coming back for more. A beautiful and endearing shot of the twins at the beach, a picture of Chloe in her glasses for anyone curious as to how she looks in them. But is it enough? I know what I'll do--I'll do another post soon with more pictures, better pictures. Something to ensure that people will not only care, but actually want to come visit our blog.

Until then, just know that I never intended for any of this to happen.
